They were not foolish due to the situation was not their fault, they themselves didn't actually do anything wrong, but they did get the perfect gifts for each other despite the twisted turn of events. Also Jim got the raw deal, Della's hair will grow back, but his watch won't.

I think they are foolish because they gave up what they value the most to get each other a gift. I think they should have talked to each other about getting each other a gift so they wouldn't do something foolish like get rid of there most sentimental thing.

Della and Jim are foolish. They're foolish because of the way they were thinking. Della didn't necessarily have to cut off all of her. Jim could have tried to buy something else for Della, or maybe he could have worked some more.

I think they are foolish. They traded both of their most treasured possessions to get each other something for Christmas. I think they should have kept there stuff and just been happy with what they had because family is all you need.

They are foolish because they didn't talk about what they wanted for Christmas so therefore they got each other gifts that wouldn't benefit them because Jim sold the watch and Della sold her hair.

I think that they are foolish because they did not ask each other what they wanted for Christmas and now that they both sold their most valuable things neither one is happy. Communication could have been a simple solution to this problem.

They were foolish because they sold the most valuable thing to them. Even though they did it for love, it was still foolish of them to sell such sentimental things to them Jim's being the watch, and Bella's being her hair.

They needed better communication skills. Then they'd have bought her hairclip this year and his watch chain next year. Or put things on layaway. Or charged the presents to their VISA card at 14.5% interest API.
