What other place-based ideas might deliver rapid transport decarbonisation in the North of England?

All research ideas are welcome - provided that:
1. They are place-based
2. They focus on the North of England
3. They address an evidence gap

How have the travel restrictions associated with COVID shaped the public's perception of travel (for different purposes) and travel behaviour? What were the carbon impacts resulting from those choices?

Brexit has now happened, and the impact on trade and industry in the North has yet to become clear, but with significant implications for mobility-based emissions in the North. How can this new situation be capitalized upon to deliver a new economy for the North that is inseparable from decarboni... more

How do the physical spaces and material infrastructures of transport networks (and city/town centres) need to be reshaped in order to make multi-stage journeys (e.g. dropping kids at school on way to work) feasible without cars?

What impacts could climate change have on transport mitigation options? How can adaptation / resilience be built into mitigation plans? Increasing intensities of rainfall as well as warmer & less cloudy can make active travel more uncomfortable and potentially rebound to more carbon intensive tra... more

Highly Northern place-based idea: How can we exploit Lancaster City/Lancashire County Councils' car traffic evaporation and city centre movement restructuring plans as a case study of a rapid transport decarbonisation strategy? Given a desire to reconfigure movement around the (small/medium sized, Green local politics) city in ways which discourage car journeys, how can the councils be supported by the low-carbon transport research community to make sure the development of an accompanying suite of active travel and low-carbon travel policies is appropriate, targeted, supported by community etc.? And (in a later, much larger bid, developed through the seedcorn funding), how effective is this approach both to developing a 'socially-ready' urban car-evaporating strategy, and to achieving its decarbonisation aims?
