All research ideas are welcome - provided that:
1. They are place-based
2. They focus on the North of England
3. They address an evidence gap
Highly Northern place-based idea: How can we exploit Lancaster City/Lancashire County Councils' car traffic evaporation and city centre movement restructuring plans as a case study of a rapid transport decarbonisation strategy? Given a desire to reconfigure movement around the (small/medium sized, Green local politics) city in ways which discourage car journeys, how can the councils be supported by the low-carbon transport research community to make sure the development of an accompanying suite of active travel and low-carbon travel policies is appropriate, targeted, supported by community etc.? And (in a later, much larger bid, developed through the seedcorn funding), how effective is this approach both to developing a 'socially-ready' urban car-evaporating strategy, and to achieving its decarbonisation aims?
